Caple have recently identified a possible risk of a gas leak from the connecting elbow with certain Caple gas hobs.
This is a serious issue which could pose a risk to health. The risk could vary from poisoning (from inhalation) to extremely rare cases of fire or explosion.
Safety is our main priority. We would ask that all potential owners contact Caple to arrange a free of charge inspection via:
https://gashobsrepair.mktpoint.com
Or call on 0800 041 8842
If you smell gas, get to fresh air immediately and contact the relevant 24 hour National Gas Emergency service number for your area. (0800 111 999 in England, Wales and Scotland, and 0800 002 001 in Northern Ireland) or a gas safe registered installer.
It is vital that all Caple gas hobs detailed below, are urgently inspected. They will check if the gas elbow connector on your gas hob is one of those affected by this issue. If so, it will be replaced. This will be conducted free of charge.
Consumers using the hob in domestic properties should not attempt to disconnect the hob from the gas supply. You can continue to use the appliance but must remain vigilant.
Consumers who are using the appliance in a caravan, leisure home or motorhome should stop using the product and disconnect it from the LPG cylinder.
If you own any of the affected hobs, or have any concerns, please contact Caple via https://gashobsrepair.mktpoint.com or by telephone on 0800 041 8842.
Can You Continue To Use Your Gas Hob?
Even if you can not detect a problem with your potentially affected Caple gas hob, you need to contact Caple for an inspection. This is to protect you from a potentially very dangerous fault.
If you can smell gas, you should immediately stop using the gas hob and follow the steps on this link. https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/gas-emergency/what-to-do-in-a-gas-emergency/.
If you cannot access the link, contact the National Gas Emergency Helpline for your area. 0800 111 999 in England, Wales and Scotland, and 0800 002 001 in Northern Ireland.
If you are using a gas hob with LPG in a caravan, leisure home, motorhome or boat please disconnect it from the LPG cylinder immediately.
If your gas hob is subject to movement, we advise you to stop using it and disconnect the gas supply until it undergoes a check.
Unless one of the above situations applies, users do not need to stop using their gas hobs. However, you must continue to be vigilant. If you smell gas or you are concerned that your product poses a risk, you should follow the steps described above.

How To Find The Model Number of Your Caple Gas Hob
The serial number can be located on the rating plate which is on the underside of the hob, or on the cover of your instruction manual. The serial number will be 3 letters and followed by the month, year and day of production, example below 05/22/30 (30th May 2022). Please do not attempt to remove the hob to confirm any of this information.
You can also check any documentation or packaging you have for the gas hob to see if they show the model code.
What To Do If You Can’t Find Your Model or Serial Number
Don’t panic if you cannot find the model number or serial number. If you purchased your gas hob from Appliance City, call us on 0115 965 1937 and we will assist you in finding your model number.
Otherwise, you can call the dedicated phone number for this inspection on 0800 041 8842. Alternatively, register on the https://gashobsrepair.mktpoint.com website and you will receive help.
Do You Need a Proof of Purchase or Receipt?
No, a proof of purchase or receipt is not required.
What Happens When The Engineer Visits?
There are two steps involved:
- Inspection – the model and serial numbers will be checked, and the existing gas elbow connector checked to see if it is an affected part. If the elbow currently installed does not require the modification, the visit will end at this point.
- Modification – the engineer will replace the gas elbow connector. The engineer will then recommission the gas hob in accordance with Gas Safe regulations and manufacturer instructions.
